Party weekend

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

The weekend is over and we had a lot of fun and not enough sleep. On Friday lots of people came over to celebrate Birgit’s birthday, the submission of my thesis and our return back to Germany. And as people are getting older and more sensible it was the first time we celebrated not in the garage ;-)

On Saturday we had a get-together of fellow students from Furtwangen. After their arrival we went for some Pit-Pat and played Bowling. Back at home we had a little BBQ and then after Martin got his Trinidad & Tobago jersey for winning the Worldcup prediction game we started making and consuming cocktails. After finishing a couple of bottles some of us were even capable to watch the German basketball game.

The weekend was really good and luckily people are not really changing within a year.

The thesis is gone

Eventually the thesis has been printed and bound. And after that we went to Freiburg and I got rid of it. While being in Freiburg we met a lot of old friends, had a couple of drinks with them and managed to keep my brother busy while staying at his place.

Job search are still ongoing. Today I have been to Stuttgart for an interview and I probably will be there again next week. Birgit is going to Karlsruhe and Munich next week. So at the moment we are “travelling” a lot.

Additionally there’s a party weekend upcoming. On Friday and Saturday we are having a party at Beffendorf, where hopefully a lot of friends come along. It’s going to be exciting!

Short update

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

I know, we are writing less and less in our blog but there is not too much happening at the moment. Here is a short update about our lifes in Germany.

  • Daniel is trying to finish his thesis. He wants to print it this week and next week Tuesday he wants to hand it in.
  • Last Friday we were both invited to a job interview in Munich. It was very interesting and so far Daniel got positive feedback and I have to wait until the end of this month for final feedback. Meanwhile I am writing some more applications.
  • After the interview we visited an old friend from Furtwangen. It was a great evening with lots of pictures, videos, stories, good Bavarian food and beer.
  • The summer is gone! It is cold, rainy and windy. My mum is going to switch on the heating!
  • My old car is still running, but unfortunately it needed some repair last week. I bought a used exhaust from a scrap merchant and a Turkish mechanist installed it for me. This was much cheaper than a new one.
