Sorry …

Monday, September 25th, 2006

for having neglected the blog for such a long time. But we are working on it and so hopefully today some updates will appear. There are some news to tell ;-)

Update: The stories are all in now. They are sorted chronologically. So you have to go back in time.

Looking for appartments

Monday, September 25th, 2006

This weekend we spent in Karlsruhe looking for appartments. Before going there we already tried to find some offers throught the internet. But the best choice was putting an ad in the newspaper.

Junges Informatikerpaar su.
ab sofort 2-3 Zi.-Whg. in KA
65m²-100m², max. 800 WM,
mögl. EBK, 07121/880715
oder 0179/1119482

This helped us to look at 9 different appartments during the whole weekend. The offered range of appartments was really interesting. From a cheap 120m² ones to a small one which has almost been ruined by students ;-)

The best thing was that we didn’t have to drive back on Saturday night. We visited my uncle who is living near Karlsruhe and got a nice bed.

Tonight we will see if we get our dream appartment.

The decision

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

After long weeks of applying and driving around for interviews today we made our decision. Beginning of October we are moving to Karlsruhe. Birgit’s new comapny is called Netpioneer and I’m going to EXXETA. Let the appartment hunt begin!

Driving around

This weekend the interviews were almost done. Thus we were allowed to party and visit friends. On Friday evening my uncle celebrated his 50th birthday and his nephews with girl-friends were disposed for kitchen work. Thus we served all the beverages and watched everybody getting drunk. On Saturday Patrick got married in Beffendorf and so we met lots of people we haven’t seen for ages. Finally Sunday Susanne celebrated her birthday and we went to her place in Stuttgart for a brithday brunch.

Weekend in Austria

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Our interviews even led us to Austria. Dirk (a friend we met in Auckland) pointed out a job offer from his company SCCH located near Linz. So on Friday we took the big car of Birgit’s parents and started our way to Austria. In the late afternoon we had the interview which went really well and was interesting as they interviewed us together an asked a lot of questions concerning each other.

After that we stayed the night at this place. The whole area is really nice as the technology park lies near an old castle and a new modern University was built there as well. After that we went on to visit Linz and then Salzburg. Then we spent another night in Austria in a small place near the Achensee. There we lowered the average age by at least one year. On our way back we had a brief look at Innsbruck and finally visited a friend near Lake Contance.

The week-end was really good and we even managed to work our way around all the traffic jams that were caused by the Pope visiting Munich.

Interviews

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

The last two weeks we had nothing but interviews. This meant Monday Karlsruhe, Tuesday Munich, Wednesday Frankfurt, Thursday Freiburg and tomorrow we’ll head towards Austria. On Tuesday Birgit managed to have three interviews on one day.
