Weekend in Cologne

Monday, February 18th, 2008

And another weekend off. After listening to the radio which warned us of 25km of traffic jam we decided to take another route to Cologne and so before really leaving our area we had discovered a lot of new roads. But three hours later we arrived at Maggie’s place.

On Saturday we went to the Drachfels near Königswinter, where we walked up to the ruin of the old castle. After that we took a ferry to cross the Rhine and strolled through Bonn, before heading back to Cologne to visit Bernd. After the visit we went out for a famous Currywurst and enjoyed Cologne at night time.

Sunday morning we climbed 509 steps to the top of the Colgone Cathedral. After all the workout (climbing up the hill the day before and the steps) we continued our trip to a museum. Therefore we drove to Bonn and had a look at the Haus der Geschichte, which provides a superb exhibition on the development of Germany starting from WW II.

Snowboarding in France

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

We spent one week in France and escaped from carnival. ;-) But not only did we escape from carnival. We also had a nice little chalet near Morillion, nice people coming with us, some snow and our snowboards.

So we enjoyed one week in the skiing area Grand Massif. The weather was almost perfect as there was hardly any snowing and rain. During our last day we even enjoyed our lunch just in front of the Mont Blanc.
