Moved the blog

After the news that Google will discontinue their FTP publishing support for blogger I decided to make the switch WordPress.

At first I tried a migration to a blogspot URL which worked flawlessly (http://danielweisser.blogspot.com) and then tried to import it to WordPress but the missing SSL support in PHP didn’t allow the import. Thus I used the following steps:

  1. Export the blog (via the Blogger management UI)
  2. Install WordPress and configure users!
  3. Convert the exported blog with http://blogger2wordpress.appspot.com/
  4. Import the converted data

Additionally I configured the upload directory to be the old directory on the server.

So right now all the posts and comments are available. After some more modifications and tests I’ll finally delete the old Blogger blog.
